Who
Meantime is made by 1n1. Write to contact@1n1.uk about anything in this policy.
What stays on your phone
Everything you put into Meantime, your plans, alarms, logs, places and settings, is stored on your phone. 1n1 has no server and no account system, and never receives any of it.
If you use Android's own backup, Android includes Meantime's data in your backup to your Google account, as it does for most apps, and can restore it if you install Meantime again. That backup is between you and Google.
If you use Export data in Meantime's settings, the file it makes holds your Meantime data and goes wherever you choose to save or send it.
What leaves your phone
- The forecast. To show the weather, Meantime sends the place's coordinates, to four decimal places, to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway), which provides the forecast. That's your approximate location, or a place you picked. Like any request over the internet, it also carries your IP address. Meantime refreshes the forecast in the background about once an hour. No account, name or other detail about you is sent. MET Norway's privacy statement covers what it does with requests.
- Place search. When you search for a place, or Meantime names the place you are in, it uses Android's place search. On most phones Google provides it and receives the text or the location being looked up.
- Purchases. Meantime Plus is bought through Google Play, which handles the payment. Meantime only learns whether Plus is active.
- Ads. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google's ads software in Meantime collects your device's advertising ID, your IP address, information about your device and the app, and the ads you see and tap. Meantime passes Google nothing of its own: none of your plans, logs or anything you've written. Where the law requires it, Google's form asks for your consent before any ad is shown, ads are personalised only if you agree, and you can change your answer later in Meantime's settings, under Privacy choices. Meantime Plus removes ads. See how Google uses data for ads and Google's privacy policy.
Permissions
- Location (approximate). For the forecast. If you decline, Meantime works the same, but the weather doesn't show. You can also type a place instead.
- Notifications, alarms and reminders, and full-screen alerts. So alarms ring on time, including over the lock screen. If you decline, Meantime works the same, but alarms don't reach your phone.
- Meantime also restarts its alarms after your phone restarts, and keeps the phone awake, vibrates and plays sound while an alarm rings. These ask for nothing and send nothing.
Every Android permission Meantime uses, and what it's for:
| Android permission | What it's for | If you say no |
|---|---|---|
android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION | Your approximate location, for the forecast. | The weather doesn't show. You can type a place instead. |
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Reminders, alarms and the day summary. | Nothing reaches your notifications, and alarms don't ring. |
android.permission.USE_EXACT_ALARM | Ringing alarms at the exact minute. | Not asked: Android grants it to alarm apps. |
android.permission.SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM | The same, on phones that ask instead. | Alarms and reminders can arrive a few minutes late. |
android.permission.USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT | Showing a ringing alarm over the lock screen. | The alarm still sounds, as a notification at the top of the screen. |
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE | Keeping the alarm sound playing until you dismiss or snooze it. | Not asked. |
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK | Keeping the alarm sound playing until you dismiss or snooze it. | Not asked. |
android.permission.WAKE_LOCK | Keeping the phone awake while an alarm rings. | Not asked. |
android.permission.VIBRATE | Vibrating for alarms and reminders. | Not asked. |
android.permission.MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS | Playing an alarm at its own volume. | Not asked. |
android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | Setting your alarms and reminders again after the phone restarts. | Not asked. |
android.permission.INTERNET | The forecast, place search, Plus and ads. | Not asked. |
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Checking for a connection before fetching the forecast or an ad. | Not asked. |
android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE | Used by Google's ads software to check the connection. | Not asked. |
com.android.vending.BILLING | Buying Meantime Plus through Google Play. | Not asked. |
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID | Your device's advertising ID, for ads in the free version. | Not asked. You can delete it in Android's settings, and ads become less personal. |
android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID | Android's Privacy Sandbox, which Google's ads software can use in place of the advertising ID. | Not asked. You can turn it off in Android's privacy settings. |
android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION | Android's Privacy Sandbox, which Google's ads software can use in place of the advertising ID. | Not asked. You can turn it off in Android's privacy settings. |
android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS | Android's Privacy Sandbox, which Google's ads software can use in place of the advertising ID. | Not asked. You can turn it off in Android's privacy settings. |
com.google.android.finsky.permission.BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE | Lets Google's ads software learn how Meantime was installed, for example from an ad. | Not asked. |
Children
Meantime isn't directed at children.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling Meantime deletes everything it stored on your phone. A copy can remain in two places you control: your Android backup in your Google account (manage it in Android's backup settings), and any file you made with Export data. To start over without uninstalling, clear Meantime's storage in Android's settings for the app.
Changes
If Meantime changes what it does with data, this policy changes with it, and the effective date above shows when. Every version of this policy stays published at its own address:
- Version 2, in force since 15 October 2026 (this one)
- Version 1, in force 8 October 2026 to 15 October 2026
